PROMISING Cherries youngster Jack Simpson has signed an extension to his contract at Vitality Stadium.

The 21-year-old centre-back's latest deal will see him remain with the Dorset club until at least the summer of 2021.

Simpson told the club website: "At the start of September they told me they wanted to give me an extension on what I already had. I was delighted about that.

"Now we've been through the process of getting it sorted and signed and I'm very happy to have signed another new contract.

"It's great that the management believe in me and it's great to have the opportunity to play here."

Simpson joined Cherries at the age of eight and became the first academy graduate to start a Premier League game when he featured at Manchester City in December last year.

He has recently trained with England under-21s and has played his part in wins over MK Dons, Blackburn and Norwich in the Carabao Cup this season.
