POOLE Town boss Tom Killick admits Brentwood Town face a “fairly horrendous trip" to Dorset – but insists he will not be expecting them to experience travel sickness.

Dolphins clash with the Essex outfit in an FA Trophy second qualifying round replay, after Will Spetch grabbed a last-gasp 2-2 draw on Saturday.

The teams lock horns again tomorrow with £4,000 and a home tie against Isthmian League Premier Division leaders Dorking Wanderers the reward for the winners.

And Killick is not anticipating an easy ride from lower-division Brentwood.

He told the Daily Echo: “I think they were quite demoralised at conceding so late, knowing the consequence of that would be a fairly horrendous trip to us.

“They are faced with a four-hour trip but the time they are going to be leaving will make it a difficult journey for them.

“At this level it is difficult to organise people getting off work, so we have to try to exploit those difficulties.

“We felt quite relieved and, to a degree, elated at the way it ended on Saturday, and they were the opposite so we have to take advantage of that.

“But we won’t be taking them lightly because they looked a good side.

“We need to learn from our mistakes and perhaps approach things in a slightly different way tactically, and try to make the most of home advantage.”

Killick had hoped to involve Luke Roberts at Brentwood but the forward failed a fitness test on a nagging toe problem.

“He is still experiencing quite a lot of discomfort,” said Killick.

“We couldn’t risk it. I think it’s about four weeks now and we have badly missed him.

“I don’t think there is much chance of him being available on Tuesday. We are probably looking at Saturday or maybe a week later.”

Cherries loan ace Jake Scrimshaw blasted no fewer than six goals for Poole against Portland United in the Dorset Senior Cup last week – therefore becoming Dolphins’ top scorer inside 70 minutes.

But the 18-year-old had to be content with entering the fray from the bench at Brentwood.

Put to him that not many managers would have left a striker out after such an impressive haul, Killick said: “Without detracting anything from the achievement, I had to take into account the standard of the opposition and that we had won the previous league game 3-0 and that Sam House had done well.

“So I felt that was the right thing to do but we brought Jake on with 20 minutes to go and he was bright.

“He had a little opportunity where he nearly scored so that would have continued his dream start but it went wide of the post.

“He will be involved again on Tuesday.”

The winner of the tie will have the opportunity to play for £5,000 in the next round.
