A TERRIFIC free-kick from Charlie Seaman ensured Cherries beat West Brom 2-1 and maintained their 100 per cent record in this season's Premier League Cup.

In driving rain and strong winds at Vitality Stadium, Seaman hammered a free-kick in off the crossbar as Shaun Cooper got his stint as manager off to a winning start.

The hosts secured victory the hard way having fallen behind in the first half.

Callum Morton handed Albion the initiative when he tucked away a loose ball following goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale's smart save from Jonathan Leko.

However, the equaliser was not long in coming, Gavin Kilkenny dancing away from a couple of defenders before firing low into the far corner.

With the interval closing in, Seaman's dipping free-kick proved far too good for Baggies goalkeeper Alex Palmer.

Cherries nearly added to their lead on more than one occasion in the second half, with defender Jack Simpson and Romanian ace Alex Dobre both going close.

Tyrone Mings, who is still waiting for his first Premier League appearance of the season, completed 90 minutes, while the fit-again Matt Butcher made his return from a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Cooper's side will hope to continue their fine form in the Premier League Cup when they travel to Liverpool on Sunday, December 2.
