BRANSGORE thrower Scott Mitchell has been handed an intriguing draw at the £450,000 Grand Slam of Darts.

The England international has been pitted against Mensur Suljovic, Stephen Bunting and Martin Schindler in Group G.

Mitchell will open his campaign on Saturday afternoon when he locks horns with 2017 Champions’ League winner Suljovic at Aldersley Leisure Village in Wolverhampton.

Suljovic, renowned for his double-14 finishes, is seeded sixth in the cross-code tournament.

He is likely to provide a stern test while Bunting – a former Lakeside world champion – saw off Mitchell 5-4 in the group stage last year.

Qualifier Schindler should also prove a tricky opponent. He beat two-time PDC world champion Michael van Gerwen in September has represented Germany with distinction in the World Cup of Darts.
