JOSE Mourinho recognised Manchester United had been "very lucky" to win 2-1 at Cherries after being second best throughout the opening 45 minutes.

Marcus Rashford's winner in second-half stoppage time broke the hearts of home supporters at Vitality Stadium.

Anthony Martial's 35th minute goal, his fifth from as many games, had drawn United level after Callum Wilson's earlier finish had put Eddie Howe’s men in front.

Assessing the contest, Mourinho said: "We were a very, very lucky team.

"It was a first half that could, should have been game over - 5-2 or 6-2 easily.

“In the second half, until we scored, I had the feeling we were a very unlucky team because we should have scored three, four or five goals.

"It was what we call a game of two halves. In the first half, Bournemouth were by far the best team and in the second half we were the best team by far.

"It looked like we didn't work tactically during the week which was the worst feeling for me. I felt really frustrated.”
