EDDIE Howe revealed how he relished the opportunity to pit his wits against “outstanding” José Mourinho.

The rival bosses will go head-to-head for the sixth time when Cherries host Manchester United at Vitality Stadium tomorrow (12.30pm).

Cherries manager Howe pulled off a famous victory over Mourinho’s Chelsea with a 1-0 win at Stamford Bridge in December 2015.

But the Red Devils boss has got the better of Howe three times in four games while at the helm of United.

A Champions’ League winner with Porto and Real Madrid, as well as sealing three Premier League titles at Chelsea, Mourinho has guided United to success in the Europa League and the League Cup.

And Howe admitted you could not help but be impressed with his opposite number’s record.

The 40-year-old said: “He’s an outstanding manager and someone who - when I was trying to do well with Bournemouth in my first stages in management - I looked to, without a doubt.

“He has an unbelievable habit of winning, which is the hardest thing to do in football management.

“That ability to win consistently is so tough and, if you look at the clubs he has managed, it’s an incredible CV.

“I’ve always enjoyed going up against him, speaking to him and meeting him, so we are looking forward to that exchange.”

Mourinho confirmed Jesse Lingard and Alexis Sanchez were back to full fitness ahead of the clash with Cherries.

Antonio Valencia, Marouane Fellaini and Diogo Dalot remain out.
