DORSET star Georgia Hall is tomorrow eyeing double success to continue her stunning year.

The Wimborne-based professional is in contention for the Sunday Times sportswoman and young sportswoman of the year awards.

Hall, 22, stepped into the spotlight in August after she won the Women's British Open at Royal Lytham & St Annes.

She will find out at an awards ceremony in London if she has further enhanced her impressive CV.

Speaking to ITV, Hall said: "It is really cool. I think it is a good honour for them to recognise my achievements this year.

"I'm really excited to be nominated for two awards and I look forward to attending."

Hall is one of six on the shortlist for the sportswoman of the year prize, which has previously been won by Jessica Ennis-Hill and Paula Radcliffe.

The other nominees are Lizzy Yarnold (skeleton), Dina Asher-Smith (athletics), Katie Archibald (track cycling), Rachel Atherton (mountain biking) and Vicky Holland (triathlon).

The former Canford Kid is up against three others for the young sportswoman of the year honour. Also nominated are Izzy Atkin (slopestyle skiing), Seonaid McIntosh (shooting) and Grace Reid (diving).

Avonbourne Gym Club coach Pat Mathie has been nominated for a grassroots award.
