UK SCHOOL Games relay medallist Chris Campbell recorded a golden hat-trick when he turned out for Hampshire schools at the Division 12 regional finals in Southampton.

The 16-year-old from Arnewood School, New Milton, stormed to victory in the intermediate boys' 100m breaststroke in 1:08.39, 100m butterfly in 59.09 and 50m freestyle time trial in 25.16.

Campbell will now be an automatic selection for the England schools championships in Manchester next month.

Campbell, who now trains with Ferndown Otters after switching clubs during the summer, was one of five Ferndown swimmers who recorded race wins - though the others were all swimming for Dorset schools!

National finalists Naomi Vides (Bournemouth School for Girls) and Fran Hughes (Parkstone Grammar) produced a double in the breaststroke.

Vides, 13, the national age group champion, finished five seconds ahead of her nearest challenger to win the junior 100m breaststroke in 1:13.56. She was also second in the junior 200m individual medley in 2:30.78.

Hughes, 14, was also five seconds clear as she won the intermediate 100m breaststroke in 1:13.99.

She was third in the 200m individual medley (2:29.40).

Emily Freeman, 17, from Parkstone Grammar and Otters, was the only girl in any age group to go under a minute as she won the senior girls' 100m freestyle in 59.24.

She was also third in the 100m backstroke in 1:06.98.

Nicole Scott, 17, from Queen Elizabeth's School, won the senior 100m butterfly in 1:05.25.

Martin Littlefair (Bournemouth Dolphins / Highcliffe School) penciled his name on to the team-sheet for the national finals with victory in the intermediate 200m individual medley (2:18.60) as well as third places in the 100m breaststroke (1:12.54) and 400m freestyle (4:16.85).

Ferndown's Zoe Watson (QE) and Tom Tiller (Kings High) came second in the intermediate girls' 50m freestyle (28.37) and boys' 100m freestyle (57.95) respectively.

Third places went to Fiona Hardie (Talbot Heath, junior 100m butterfly 1:10.13), Jasmine McCormack (Twynham, intermediate 100m freestyle 1:01.71), Anne-Marie Taylor (QE, intermediate 100m butterfly 1:05.25) and Matthew Hallett (Thomas Hardye Dorchester, intermediate 100m backstroke 1:06.31).
