JACK Singh Brar carded a career-best 63 on his way to securing a top-five finish on the European Challenge Tour.

The Remedy Oak star, who only turned professional a year ago, opened his tournament with a nine under par round at the Foshan Open in China.

He reached the turn seven under at Foshan Golf Club before two more birdies on the back nine set him up for a fruitful week.

The 21-year-old told the European Tour: “That was the best round I had ever shot. Even I didn’t think I could do that but I was chuffed with the result.”

Singh Brar went on to post two rounds of 70, followed by a 68 today to secure a tie for fifth and scoop more than £17,000.

His overall total of 271 left him two shots adrift of winner Victor Perez.

Singh Brar is set to land a European Tour card for next year after being well inside the top 15 in the Road to Ras Al Khaimah rankings.

“My rookie year on the Challenge Tour has been amazing,” he said.

“At the start of the season I would’ve taken this position all day long. I had a few starts on the European Tour but the results were here and there, but I look forward to getting back out there if I get my card.”
