BOSS Matty Holmes wants his Wimborne Town players to take “momentum” to high-flying Hendon as they go in search of a first away win in Southern League South.

Magpies on Saturday meet the Dons at their Silver Jubilee Park headquarters on the back of successive home victories over Kings Langley and Frome Town.

The morale-boosting win double at the KoolPak Stadium saw Wimborne climb out of the bottom three ahead of their trip to north west London (3pm).

Beaten on penalties by Dulwich Hamlet in the Isthmian League Premier Division play-off final in May, third-placed Hendon have suffered just one defeat in nine games since being transferred to the Southern League.

Holmes told the Daily Echo: “They are up there for a reason so it is going to be tough for us. They are a physical side and play with a high temp so it is going to be a challenge.

“We want to try to get our first away win of the season. We have momentum with two home wins under our belt and there is a bit of belief in the squad. We are trying to play some good football so let’s see what happens.”

Magpies are still without injured Billy Maybury but Jordan Lee could return to the starting line-up having been rested during the midweek win over Frome.
