POOLE Town missed out on the chance to move into the top five in Southern League South after being rocked in a dramatic 3-2 defeat at Gosport Borough.

Goals from Marvin Brooks and Steve Devlin did not prove enough for Tom Killick’s men as a Pat Suraci double helped end a six-game losing run for their opponents.

Despite rattling the woodwork on two occasions, Dolphins trailed 2-0 at the interval at Privett Park.

Gosport player-manager Craig McAllister teed up Suraci for Boro’s first goal on 27 minutes.

The hosts doubled their advantage when defender Harry Medway converted at the back post.

Killick’s charges then rallied and restored parity within 10 minutes of the restart.

Brooks powered home a header from a Dolphins free-kick to net his second goal in as many games.

Midfielder Devlin then kept his cool to fire home from the penalty spot and set up a grandstand finale.

But it was Boro who seized the opportunity to end their poor run of form. Suraci popped up with his second of the night 12 minutes from time to condemn Poole to their fourth league defeat of the campaign.

Dolphins are now ninth in the standings with 16 points from 10 fixtures.
