CHERRIES frontman Joshua King got 90 minutes under his belt as Norway edged out Slovenia 1-0 in the UEFA Nations League on Saturday.

Ole Selnæs bagged the game's only goal deep into first-half stoppage time, with King's diligent work and cross from the right side of the box a key element of the breakthrough.

Meanwhile, Harry Arter marked his return to Republic of Ireland action with a vital goal-line clearance as Martin O'Neill's men opened their Nations League account with a drab 0-0 draw against Denmark.

The midfielder, who made himself unavailable for last month's opener against Wales following a summer bust-up with assistant manager Roy Keane, came to Ireland's rescue to deny Simon Kjaer what would have been a winning goal.

Arter, on loan to Cardiff City from Cherries this season, joined the Dorset club eight years ago.

He could lock horns with David Brooks when Ireland meet Wales in the Nations League tomorrow.

Elsewhere, King's Norway face Bulgaria in the same competition, while Nathan Ake's Netherlands team take on Belgium in a friendly.

Lewis Cook and England under-21s meet their Scottish counterparts in European Championship qualifying. England have already qualified for the tournament proper.
