PARKSTONE A triumphed 6-4 against New Milton B in a monumental battle in the Bournemouth and District Table Tennis League at the Scout Hall in Parkstone.

New Milton fielded a strong side which included Brian Bickell, a recent England veteran international who won a silver medal at the Six Nations.

They also boasted John Millward and Plamen Petrov to ensure New Milton took the hosts to the wire in a spellbinding match.

Parkstone A were led by captain Luke Hunt with team-mates Jeff Rigby and Ray Cody both winning five out of six of their singles and taking the last match doubles to seal victory.

Hunt took Bickell all the way in their match with the New Milton man prevailing 12-10 in the fifth set.

The ultra-competitive encounter was played in a fiercely-competitive yet friendly atmosphere with three of the points going to the home side and New Milton having to settle for one point.

The result left Parkstone in the top four of Division One after taking an 8-2 win against Merton C last week with New Milton sitting fairly comfortably in mid-table after just three matches played.
