DOUBLES from Marc Pugh and Tyrell Hamilton helped Cherries register a 7-1 win over Burnley in the Premier League Cup on Saturday.

Keelan O’Connell, Gavin Kilkenny and Alex Dobre were also on target as Cherries picked up three points at Vitality Stadium.

Carl Fletcher’s team included a number of senior players, with Charlie Daniels, Tyrone Mings and Kyle Taylor also featuring.

Pugh opened the scoring following good work by Taylor and Dobre.

And Taylor was again involved as the hosts doubled their lead within two minutes through O’Connell.

Pugh grabbed his second just after the hour mark, the winger controlling a lofted ball into the box and finishing deftly with the outside of his foot from close range.

A fourth soon followed and it was Kilkenny who added to the tally with Pugh at the heart of the move which led to the goal.

Although Daniel Agyei pulled one back for the Clarets, Cherries added a fifth when Pugh slalomed through the Burnley defence before teeing up Dobre.

Hamilton, who replaced Dobre, picked up the ball on the edge of the area and fired in a shot from range for his first Cherries goal.

And the summer signing rounded off the scoring with his second in the closing stages.
