EDDIE Howe watched Cherries continue their impressive start to the Premier League season by ripping apart Watford before insisting: “Nothing has been achieved yet.”

Cherries rose to the brink of the Champions’ League places with a 4-0 win at Vicarage Road, giving them 16 points from eight Premier League games.

That is 12 more than at the same stage last season, when Howe’s men were 19th in the standings and four points from safety.

Asked by the Daily Echo how his mid-term report would read, Howe said: “If I did them, it would be positive, not just on the results but on the mentality of the players and how they are conducting themselves every day.

“For me, that is the most important thing. If you have that, with the ability to go hand in hand, you have a great chance.

“Nothing has been achieved yet, we just have more points than we did at this time last year but no more than that.

“That’s very much my method and now it’s all about the next training session.”

While the 32nd-minute dismissal of centre-half Christian Kabasele played a significant role in the course of the game, Howe was pleased with his team’s attacking efforts.

But, ever the perfectionist, the manager insisted his team could have scored even more.

He said: “There was some good stuff, maybe not as much control as I would have wanted but there was some very good attacking play.

“The only frustration would be that once we went 4-0 ahead, we didn’t really push on and stamp our authority on the game from that point.

“More goals, more play around their box, more control – all of those things put together.

“But overall, I can’t be too critical having scored four away.”

Howe backed the decision of referee Jon Moss to dismiss Kabasele.

The Belgium international was cautioned for catching goalkeeper Asmir Begovic with an elbow before getting his second yellow for clumsily bringing down Joshua King in the box.

King got to his feet to convert the resultant penalty and put Cherries 2-0 in front.

“The first one looked nasty, it looked a dangerous one for Asmir with the elbow coming across him,” said Howe.

“I’m not quite sure where it caught him but that could easily have been a red itself. The fact it was two yellows was the right call.”

Howe last season admitted he did not watch highlights of his team on Match of the Day.

And the 40-year-old maintained he would continue in that manner, even after an emphatic away win.

He said: “I think I’m still banned, let’s be consistent. I won’t be watching it tonight.

“I don’t need other people to tell me about my team and those opinions can sometimes be negative.

“I just watch the game myself in a quiet room and make my own decisions.”

Cherries are next in action against Southampton after the international break.
