EDDIE Howe said his squad did not contain a “number one penalty taker” and insisted there were plenty of players willing to step up to the plate.

Cherries winger Junior Stanislas stroked home the winner from 12 yards in Monday’s 2-1 Premier League win over Crystal Palace.

He had replaced Joshua King, who has scored penalties against Leicester and Everton this season.

Jordon Ibe netted from the spot against Blackburn in the Carabao Cup third round last month, while Callum Wilson saw his penalty saved by Neil Etheridge against Cardiff on the opening day of the season.

Howe told the Daily Echo: “It’s difficult to say you have a number one penalty taker. We have a host of players who would want the ball.

“Jordon Ibe took one the other day, Joshua King has done really well for us from the spot and Jermain Defoe is probably one of the best penalty takers ever in the Premier League.

“I think Kingy would probably say he has the right to take them because he has taken the last couple and taken them well but I will have to make that decision when they (King and Stanislas) are both on the pitch.”
