SOMERSET’S Bradley Wilson-Dean has been ruled out of the crunch play-off clash with Pirates on Monday.

The New Zealander is tomorrow due to go undergo surgery during which a metal plate and nine screws will be removed from his shoulder.

Wilson-Dean’s absence at Wimborne Road could prove a substantial body blow to the Rebels, who lead 46-44 from the first leg of the semi-final.

Somerset team boss Garry May told the club website: "Bradders needs to have metalwork removed from his shoulder and he had to go along with the date as that was the only time they could do it.

“While it is not ideal, it is what it is and we will just have to dig deep and do battle without him.

“We will monitor the situation closely as there is a slim possibility he could be back racing in a relatively short while.

“In the meantime, we wish him a speedy recovery."

The Rebels will operate rider replacement for Wilson-Dean.

Richard Lawson, Aaron Summers, Nico Covatti and Jake Allen are eligible to cover his rides.
