EDDIE Howe believes “excellent” David Brooks’s positive display “won’t be remembered” after his side’s 4-0 setback at Burnley.

The attacking midfielder had caused the Clarets problems out wide during the opening period. His cross fell to Nathan Ake, who hit the crossbar from inside the box on 17 minutes.

Brooks then linked up with Callum Wilson and Joshua King to form a front three as Cherries changed their shape during the second period.

With the score at 2-0, he rifled an effort on the angle which was beaten away by Burnley stopper Joe Hart.

Quizzed on the youngster, Howe told the Daily Echo: “I thought he had a really good day.

“A lot of his good work won’t be remembered but I thought he was excellent in certain situations – as were a number of the other players.

“We got him some good ball in between the lines of their units.

“It wasn’t all doom and gloom for me, there were some really good bits but, of course, some bits we need to look at and make sure don’t happen again because we certainly contributed to our own downfall at times.”

Howe also revealed midfielder Dan Gosling had missed the clash with a calf strain which is not expected to be serious.
