PROMOTER Steve Bendall admitted debutant Lee Cutler had “made a statement” with his explosive demolition of Casey Blair.

Parkstone-based Cutler defeated Northern Ireland’s Blair by technical knockout inside a round of their super-welterweight contest at Bournemouth’s O2 Academy on Saturday.

Blair had been stopped 11 times in 49 previous fights but former car salesman Cutler made short work of his opponent.

Bendall told the Daily Echo: “Lee made a statement with his performance against a boxer who doesn’t get stopped very often.

“I took the kid back to the airport the next day and he told me he had never been hit like that before.

“Now Lee has to continue to improve. He is still young and we are nursing him along in the correct manner.”

Elsewhere, Bournemouth’s Jake Gosling returned after more than a year out of the ring and maintained his perfect professional record by outpointing Yeovil’s Bryn Wain.

The remaining fights were also decided on points.

Portsmouth’s Garry Neale beat Liam Richards, Portland boxer Jack Carter saw off Christian Hoskins-Gomez and Totton’s Jimmy Cooper got the better of Lee Hallett.

Southampton’s Jack Hillier bested Edward Bjorklund and Portsmouth puncher Lucas Ballingall triumphed over Jamie Quinn.
