SWANAGE Town & Herston will be hoping to embark on another fruitful run when they kick off their FA Vase campaign at Day’s Park on Saturday.

The Dorset Premier League outfit host Western League Division One Longwell Green Sports in a second qualifying round tie which is worth £725 to the victors (3pm).

Swans reached the first round proper last season and claimed the scalps of Ash United and Fawley before bowing out to Bodmin Town of the South West Peninsula League Premier Division.

Longwell Green booked a first visit to Day’s Park after knocking out Wessex Premier Team Solent in the first qualifying round, while Swans received a bye.

Christchurch, who reached the third round proper last season, face a tough assignment against in-form Wessex Premier neighbours Poppies at Victoria Park (3pm).

Poppies, quarter-finalists in 2011-12, have lost just one game all season – against Southern League Winchester City in the FA Cup – and thrashed Bristol Telephones 8-0 in the previous round.

Priory boss Ollie Cherrett presided over a 3-0 victory against Folland Sports in the first qualifying round, one of just three wins in all competitions this season.

Hamworthy United will be bidding to bounce back from their FA Cup defeat by Sholing in midweek when they entertain Wessex One strugglers Fawley (3pm).

A hat-trick from Dan Cann fired them to an emphatic 5-0 triumph over Amesbury in the previous round, the Wiltshire outfit currently 12 places higher than fourth-bottom Fawley.

Wessex One leaders Verwood Town will be looking to claim a scalp when they host big-spending and under-achieving Alresford Town at Potterne Park (3pm).

Alresford, who knocked out Verwood’s neighbours Ringwood in the previous round, have managed just one league win and are currently 16th in Wessex Premier.

New Milton Town host Western Premier outfit Cadbury Heath, while Bashley travel to Royal Wootton Basset Town who are ninth in the Premier Division of the Hellenic League (both 3pm).

Also in the FA Vase, Brockenhurst visit US Portsmouth and Lymington travel to Eversley & California for their ninth cup game of the season and seventh in a row (both 3pm).

In Wessex One, Ringwood Town, buoyed by their first win of the season against Totton & Eling five days ago, visit lowly Folland Sports (3pm).
