FLAWLESS Georgia Hall fired an opening-round 68 at the Evian Championship to get her quest for back-to-back major wins off to a solid start.

The 22-year-old Women’s British Open champion carded a three-under total without recording a bogey at Evian Resort in France.

Playing alongside Sung Hyun Park and Ariya Jutanugarn – the world’s top-two ranked players -Wimborne-based Hall carded the best round of the trio.

All three of the world number eight’s birdies came on the opening nine.

She recorded a three at the par-four third before picking up another shot at the sixth.

A birdie two followed at the eighth before 10 straight pars coming home put the former Canford Kid in contention, three shots behind early pace-setters Carlota Ciganda and Maria Torres.

Hall is set to begin her second round tomorrow from the 10th tee at 7.14am UK time.

Victory at the event for the Dorset star would make her only the second English woman to win multiple major championships.

Dame Laura Davies, who fired a three over 74 to open her campaign, has four major victories on the regular tour.
