WIMBORNE Town manager Matty Holmes has described as “not ideal” the absence of holidaying star striker Toby Holmes.

The frontman will miss their next three games having started a fortnight’s vacation following Magpies' 1-1 draw with Dorchester in the FA Cup on Saturday.

Toby Holmes put Wimborne ahead three minutes from time at The KoolPak Stadium but is unavailable for tomorrow’s replay at the Avenue (7.45pm).

The winners have been handed a trip to Southern League South high-fliers Tiverton in the second qualifying round, another game he would miss should Wimborne progress. He is also away for Wimborne’s visit to Basingstoke in the league on Saturday.

Boss Matty Holmes told the Daily Echo: “It wouldn’t happen in a million years in the pro game but you find it quite a lot in non-league.

“Lads have their working schedules. Toby is a window fitter and couldn’t get away in the summer, which was unfortunate so he had to go this month.

“He let me know at the start of pre-season so gave me plenty of notice. It’s not ideal because you want your players fit and available but a lot of non-league clubs have this issue and it is what it is.”
