AN EIGHT-year-old snooker player from Ferndown picked the perfect moment to make his first break of 20 or more.

Harry Wyatt compiled a 26 on his debut in a higher-standard competition against an England international.

Wyatt competes in the Eastleigh & District Under-13 League every Saturday morning at Chandlers Ford Snooker Club near Southampton.

He is currently second in the Premier League and recently made an appearance in the Under-19 League.

After spurning one glorious chance to make a 20, Wyatt then knocked in a personal best against 12-year-old Oliver Sykes, who helped the England Under-16 B team win the Home Internationals in Leeds last month.

Tim Dunkley, the young talent’s World Snooker coach, said: “Harry’s come a long way in the short time he has been with us.

“He’s been threatening to smash through the 20-break barrier for some time.

“When he is focused and doesn’t allow his technique to slip, he’s a dangerous player.

“It was an honour to be in the club when this happened. I’m delighted for Harry, his mum, Lucinda, and dad, Chris.”

Wyatt was due to make his debut on the Cuestars Under-21 Bronze Tour in Salisbury at the weekend.
