LYMINGTON Town have been handed a huge incentive to win their FA Cup first qualifying round replay – a home tie against non-league big guns Torquay United.

Wessex Premier Lymington will tomorrow duel with Hellenic Premier Lydney Town for the right to host the Gulls on Saturday, September 22.

A dramatic injury-time equaliser from Lewis Thompson thwarted Lymington’s bid to reach the second qualifying round for the first time in their history when the teams met on Saturday.

A Sam House header and a penalty from Ash Jarvis gave Lymington a 2-1 lead at the Sports Ground before Thompson netted with virtually the last kick of the game.

Lymington face an arduous five-hour, 275-mile round trip to the Forest of Dean for the replay, with £6,000 and a visit from Torquay up for grabs for the winners.

The Gulls, who reached the fourth round proper in 2010, were relegated from the Football League in 2014 and from the National League last season.

They are currently 14th in National South – with 60 places separating them from Lymington, who are 11th in Wessex Premier, three steps of the non-league ladder below Torquay.

Poole Town’s reward for their 1-0 win over Shaftesbury was a home tie against Cinderford Town, who are eighth in Southern League Division One South.

The winners of the tie between Wimborne and Dorchester, who replay at the Avenue Stadium tomorrow, will travel to Tiverton, currently second in Southern League South.

And either Hamworthy United or Sholing, who replay at the Specsavers Stadium tomorrow, will visit National South Slough Town. Prize money in the next round is £9,000.
