DEFENDER Ben Walker is in contention to make his debut for Christchurch in their Sydenhams Wessex Premier clash at Tadley Calleva on Saturday.

Walker has dual registered from Southern League neighbours Wimborne and was among the crowd to see Priory drubbed 4-0 by Brockenhurst in midweek.

The former Cherries apprentice has been drafted in by boss OIlie Cherrett to help shore up a defence which has conceded 11 goals in their past three league games.

Christchurch have slipped to 17th after losing three league games in succession following their opening-day victory at Horndean.

Priory, who were crowned Wessex One champions last season, will renew rivalries with Tadley at Barlows Park, the Hampshire outfit having followed them up in third place (3pm).

High-flying Poppies will be hoping to maintain their impressive start to the season when they host Hamble Club at Victoria Park (3pm).

Fifth-placed Poppies, fuelled by master marksman Steve Flynn’s 12 goals in eight games, have lost just once – at Southern League Winchester City in the FA Cup.

Unbeaten in the league, Poppies have also progressed in three other cups with Flynn having plundered hat-tricks in their 6-0 win at Verwood in the Sydenhams Wessex League Cup and in the 8-0 thrashing of Bristol Telephones in the FA Vase – a game which saw him have one of three penalties saved.

Fourth-placed Bashley, fresh from their 6-0 hammering of AFC Portchester in the FA Vase, host Baffins Milton Rovers at Bashley Road (3pm).

Verwood Town will be looking to maintain pole position in Wessex One when they visit relegated Amesbury Town (3pm).

The Potters have already won three times on the road this season with victories at Whitchurch, Andover Town and New Milton Town helping them establish a three-point lead at the summit.

New Milton entertain Romsey Town, while Ringwood Town will be looking to register their first win of the season when they host Totton & Eling (both 3pm).

Revised draw in the second qualifying round of the FA Vase (selected): Swanage Town & Herston v Longwell Green Sports, Eversley & California v Lymington Town, US Portsmouth v Brockenhurst, Royal Wootton Bassett v Bashley, New Milton Town v Cadbury Heath, Verwood Town v Alresford Town, Hamworthy United v AFC Fawley, Poppies v Christchurch (ties to be played Saturday, September 15).
