ASPIRING young Dorset golfers will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of Georgia Hall after winning the South West Inter-Counties title.

Hall, who was last month crowned British Open champion, was part of one of the youngest Dorset teams to win the South West Championships in 2010.

South West Inter-Counties is an annual competition between Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Devon, Somerset, Cornwall and Dorset.

The four-day event is for a team of eight girls with handicaps below 18 and took place this year at Brickhampton Golf Centre in Gloucestershire.

Dorset, who had last won the trophy at Dudsbury five years ago, pulled out all the stops to regain it this year.

Hall, who is currently competing in the Portland Classic in Oregon, donated polo shirts and equipment to Dorset which raised £400 towards new uniforms for the players.

Dorset: Alex Cornell (Parkstone), Lauren Purchase (Dudsbury), Scarlett Williams (Parkstone), Molly Kington (Weymouth), Hermione Christey-Clover (Ashley Wood), Louise Burke, Chloe Haesler (Broadstone), Megan Withnall (Ferndown).
