KEVIN Bond hailed Lee Bradbury as "just the type" of player Cherries need after the forward's stay at Dean Court became permanent on Friday.
Bradbury's contract with Southend has been taken over by Cherries and he is now contracted to the club until the end of the season, as opposed to his initial loan deal, which would have expired at the end of December.
Bond said: "I'm happy he's pleased to do it and, from our point of view, it's just the type (of player) we need - I'm really happy."
Bradbury came in for praise from strike partner Jo Kuffour after the pair hit it off in their first match together last weekend - a 2-1 victory at Doncaster Rovers.
A familiar face and a player Bond describes as a "real potent goal threat" will line up against Cherries for Port Vale.
David McGoldrick, who fired six goals in 12 appearances for Cherries at the back end of last season, has signed for Vale on loan from Southampton.
"I like him a lot - except tomorrow," Bond told the Daily Echo.
"He's a real potent goal threat and has lots of ability.
"I'd have taken him back in a minute for myself if I could've done."
