STEVE Riley insists his Bashley troops have the "togetherness" to mount a serious BGB Southern League Premier Divison challenge.

Riley, whose side travel to Clevedon Town tomorrow (3pm), says the spirit among his players is good as Bashley go in search of their first victory of the season.

Bash have recorded stalemates in three of their opening four encounters since moving up to the BGB Football League's top tier, but Riley is hopeful his side will soon kick into gear.

He said: "We want to try and do the best we can.

"We've only played four games but we've got confidence, togetherness and we're all pulling in the same direction.

"We just want to get the first three points and settle people down a bit - we're not hitting the panic button."

Bashley's start to the season, having been promoted as Division One South and West champions, certainly wasn't the easiest.

Riley's side began with a draw against favourites Kings Lynn and they have also made trips to high-flying Mangotsfield United and Chippenham Town.

But the Bashley boss has seen enough from his players in those games in terms of defending and creating chances to think that a win is not too far away.

"We've had a lot of possession in all the games, we just need a little bit more quality in the final third," he said.

"That's what we've worked on and we can hopefully do that tomorrow.

"We're creating chances, we've got players who can and will score goals. Once that kicks in we'll get momentum."

While Riley has been pleased with his side's defending in open play, a lack of concentration has seen them concede at set-pieces.

He said: "It's a bit of a sucker- punch, it's been from corners and free kicks, so we need to cut that out."

Bashley have no injury or suspension worries ahead of tomorrow's clash.
