DAN Cann’s clinical hat-trick booked Hamworthy United a place in the preliminary round of the FA Cup following a classic against Team Solent at the Specsavers County Ground.

Cann netted twice as the Hammers were forced to come from behind by their Wessex Premier rivals before he bagged a dramatic winner deep into stoppage-time.

Victory earned them £2,250 in prize money and a home clash with Southern League Division One South outfit AFC Totton in the preliminary round on August 25.

Jesse Waller-Lassen drew first blood for the Students on four minutes and restored their lead after Cann had netted the first of his treble midway through the first half.

Cann pounced to level just two minutes from time before sending home fans into a frenzy when he sealed victory five minutes into injury-time.

Early goals from Micky Finch and Steve Flynn earned Poppies a 2-0 win at Bashley to set up a trip to Southern League Division One South Winchester City in the preliminary round.

Sam House was on target in Lymington Town’s 1-1 draw at Sandhurst Town with the replay set for New Milton’s Fawcett’s Field headquarters on Wednesday (7.45pm).

The winners will visit Combined Counties Division One Frimley Green, while Wimborne Town will host Newport following the Islanders’ 3-1 win over Amesbury Town.
