A GOLD medal might be up for grabs this week but Dorset's Georgia Hall is not feeling the pressure at the European Team Golf Championships.

Hall, along with playing partner Dame Laura Davies, looks set for a shot at the medals after the pair won their second fourball matchplay round robin game.

They saw off Germany’s Isi Gabsa and Leticia Ras-Anderica at Gleneagles to back up their win against Spain and a medal charge is on the cards if they were to see off Belgium tomorrow.

Davies and Hall are yet to drop a shot in their first two matches, despite windy conditions forcing players to hit conservatively but a strong swing and relaxed approach seems to the best route around here this week.

"It's been really fun. Laura has a very good sense of humour. She's really great to play with. I never feel under any pressure when I get a bad shot,” said Hall.

“The four of us, the caddies as well, are getting on very well.

"I think how we approach the shots and greens is really key.

“A lot of the tee shots are fairly simple but it's important to pick the right club going to the greens because it is so firm out there, which will hopefully leave ourselves on the right side of the hole."

Hall, full of confidence following her maiden major win at the Women's British Open, is unsurprisingly leading the charge but few know the perils of golf at Gleneagles as well as Davies.

At 54, Davies’ best days are perhaps behind her but the four-time major champion has been one of the field’s best players so far – showing she can still mix it at the top, along with Hall.

"When you're playing with someone who's just won a tournament, you already know they're in great form, you can just see the confidence there,” she said.

"She saved us out there early doors, made some really nice pars and then I had a little run in the middle of the round which helped.

“And then Georgia finished them off in the end with a birdie and really good par on 15.

"Georgia's the British Open champion, you can't really tell someone who has just won a prestigious event anything.

“Georgia knows what she is doing and I know what I'm doing, so we try and keep out of each other's way."
