SUPERSTITIOUS Women’s British Open winner Georgia Hall revealed dad Wayne had worn the same socks for all four days during the biggest triumph of her career.
The former Canford Kid pocketed more than £375,000 for her triumph at Royal Lytham & St Annes as she overcame Thailand’s Pornanong Phatlum by two shots to seal the crown.
With her father on the bag for the showpiece event at the famous Lancashire Links, the 22-year-old revealed the pair are both particular about specific rituals during tournaments.
Asked about the socks, Hall told the BBC: “They weren’t smelly after day one. After four days they were!
“I’m quite superstitious and my dad is even worse. He said he would keep them on and hoped it would be worth it, and it was.”
Asked about her own superstitions, the Wimborne-based professional added: “It’s just silly things, like I have to get my boyfriend to close the curtains every night!
“I have to touch every golf club before I tee off to make sure there are 14 as well.”
Hall’s famous triumph meant she was the first English Women’s British Open winner since Karen Stupples in 2004.
She also became the first person in history to win the Girls' British Open Amateur, Ladies' British Open Amateur and Women’s British Open.
