LYMINGTON collapsed to a crushing defeat by Basingstoke & North Hants at the Sports Ground.

Basingstoke recovered from 48 for three to post a formidable 251 for nine in the Southern Premier League clash.

Max Harsham, with a league-best 93, and opener Ben Thane (71) orchestrated the Basingstoke recovery after Matt Metcalfe (2-30) and Simon Beetham had made early breakthroughs.

Thane steadied the ship before Harsham, with 10 fours in his 93, and Mitch Stokes (28) turned the match in the visitors’ favour.

Dom Hand (3-74) took three of the last four wickets but, by then, Basingstoke were heading for a winning total.

Ryan Scott (36) took to 65 for two Lymington's reply but the remaining batsmen found David Griffiths (5-28) too hot to handle.

Stokes weighed in with three for 22 as the hosts were dismissed for 109.
