TEENAGE Bashley wicketkeeper Patrick Lewis etched his name into the ECB annals on the back of a stunning display behind the stumps for Dorset in the Under-17 County Championships.
His eight dismissals playing for Dorset against Berkshire at Wokingham is believed to be the best individual performance for a wicketkeeper in the national competition.
The Highcliffe Sixth Form College student snapped up seven catches, four of them standing up, and took a smart leg-side stumping before narrowly missing out on a half-century with the bat when Dorset replied to Berkshire’s 325, Hamworthy’s Jack Gordon taking five for 63.
Lewis hit 47 as Dorset replied with 250, Canford’s Anthony Graham hitting an unbeaten 105 and Bashley’s James Turner 30.
