SCOTT Nicholls and Chris Harris have approached Pirates boss Matt Ford to offer their services, the Daily Echo understands.

The duo, who have won 10 British titles between them, are seeking alternative employment on these shores.

It was announced on Wednesday that the pair’s previous club, Rye House, had been forced out of SGB Premiership action due to financial problems.

Ford has publicly stated he could make more changes in a bid to take Pirates to the play-offs.

He is thought to be open to bringing in either rider but, as always, it comes down to averages.

Nicholls scored nine points from five rides while guesting for Belle Vue at Wimborne Road on Wednesday.

Poole is a favoured track for Harris, who bagged 12 points when Rye visited Dorset back in May.

A statement released by the British Speedway Promoters’ Association said: “It is with deep regret that Rye House Speedway promoters have today been annulled by the Speedway Control Bureau.

“BMR Racing, the club owners and riders made the association aware of debts building and every opportunity was given for these to be reduced and settled.

“However, it has become apparent this is now not possible.”
