PIRATES' Knockout Cup quarter-final first-leg clash with Somerset at Wimborne Road tomorrow has been postponed.

With plenty of rain due to fall between now and the scheduled 11am start time, Poole boss Matt Ford took the decision to call the meeting off.

The away leg at the Oaktree Arena is still scheduled to go ahead, although the unfavourable forecast puts that in doubt.

Three of Poole's fixtures this season have succumbed to the weather, directly or indirectly.

The 70th anniversary meeting was cancelled due to rain, while the SGB Premiership trip to Wolverhampton was postponed as the hosts had rearranged their press and practice for that day after snow intervened the previous week.

Ford told the club website: "With rain falling overnight and more due today, together with a substantial amount forecasted for tomorrow morning, we felt it better to give our patrons time to adjust their plans rather than be wondering whether to make the trip to Wimborne Road.

"It is extremely disappointing that this blockbuster of a meeting has gone the same way as our 70th anniversary meeting but there is liittle we can do."
