THE bids of Mateusz Szczepaniak and Kacper Woryna to reach the Grand Prix and Speedway European Championship have been delayed.

The Pirates duo had tomorrow been due to ride in the Polish Golden Helmet semi-finals, Szczepaniak at Ostrow and Woryna at Poznan.

However, the authorities elected to postpone with the weather forecast one of a number of factors taken into consideration.

Poland determines its entrants for Grand Prix qualifying and SEC qualifying via the Golden Helmet final, which had been due to take place at Pila on Saturday.

New dates for the semi-finals are yet to be announced.

Last year, Szczepaniak qualified for the SEC for the first time and finished seventh, ahead of the likes of Kenneth Bjerre, Andrej Kudryashov and Michael Jepsen Jensen.

He also came to within one meeting of the 2018 world championship, finishing 11th in the Grand Prix Challenge at Russian circuit Togliatti.
