BOSS Eddie Howe did not mind Nathan Ake and Brad Smith playing tennis to get away from the intensity of the Premier League – providing their game did not turn into a five-set marathon.
The Cherries duo recently posted on social media they had got on court, while the Cherries boss also revealed he had triumphed over a friend for the past two weeks.
Howe told the Daily Echo: “It’s important the players get away and take a break. I think it’s good, it’s a little bit of relaxation, as long as it doesn’t go to five sets!
“They are both intelligent players and they will know what their bodies need.”
He added: “Tennis is actually something I have used for relaxation in recent weeks, so I think it’s important you get out there and change the focus.
“When I say I play tennis, it’s a loose term. I hold a racquet and swing! I play a friend and I have beaten him two weeks in a row, so I am pleased with that.
“All these things are activities which can take away the stresses and the strains of the job. It switches your mind and focus and gives you a chance to relax.”
