TWO of Ellingham & Ringwood’s rising stars could follow in the footsteps of England ace Poppy Cleall.

The club’s girls’ under-18 half-back pairing of scrum-half Alicia Maude and fly-half Georgia Lang have been selected for the England talent development group.

Maude and Lang recently attended their first training session with the set up at the Stoop, Twickenham, where Harlequins men's and women's Premiership sides play.

Ellingham & Ringwood director of rugby Steve Benson said: "We're all very proud of Alicia and Georgia and hope they can follow in the footsteps of our former player Poppy Cleall, who is a regular member of the England team.”

Raised in Alderholt, Cleall played for Ellingham from under-seven to under-18 level, save for one year at Salisbury.

She made her international debut two years ago and has since been a regular fixture in the Red Roses squad.

Maude and Lang are set to feature for the Es on Sunday when they take on Hertfordshire-based Old Albanian in the London & South East Cup final.

Meanwhile, Ellingham's under-15 girls will be playing in their London & South East Cup final against Harpenden.
