BOSS Matty Holmes is sweating on the fitness of son Luke Holmes ahead of Wimborne Town’s showdown with hosts Larkhall Athletic.

The midfielder has just completed a three-match ban following his dismissal during the 4-3 home defeat to Evesham United last month.

However, the former Cherries youngster this week sustained an injury in training which could rule him out of the Southern League West clash.

Manager Holmes told the Daily Echo: “Luke picked up a knock in training so he’s touch and go. We are hopeful he will finally be back in the squad.

“He’s been frustrated because, on his day, he is one of our better players.

“If you get the likes of him, Luke Burbidge, Jack Lovell and Toby Holmes in those top areas they are going to be a fight for any team.

“If we can keep those four fit for the remainder of the season, they will be a handful.”

Paddy Hester is set to be included in the travelling party but Sam Davidson suffered a recurrence of an ankle problem during the warm-up of Magpies’ 2-2 draw with Bideford last time out.

James Stokoe starts the first of a three-game suspension.
