MATT Ford invited Frederik Jakobsen to take more laps at Poole before revealing ambitions to make the Danish prospect a permanent addition.

Jakobsen, who made his British debut when he rode in the Blue Riband in October 2016, is due to race in Pirates' 70th anniversary meeting on Friday, March 23.

The 20-year-old last year starred with double-point hauls as Denmark finished third in the Under-21 World Cup final and second in the European equivalent.

He also narrowly missed out on an individual medal in the European Under-21 Championship final at Latvian track Daugavpils.

Pirates chief Ford believes the Fjelsted, Poznan and Lejonen charger shows huge potential and admits he would love to sign him in the future.

Ford told the Daily Echo: "I believe Frederik will go to the very top of the sport. He is high on my wanted list.

"I'm very keen to build a working relationship with him and he is taking part in this meeting so we can spend more time with each other.

"I hope working together will prove beneficial to both parties."

Joining Jakobsen in the showpiece meeting will be former Poole skipper Hans Andersen and Pirates new boys Linus Sundstrom and Kacper Woryna.

Ford added: "Even though his Polish club will be riding, Linus is very keen to get plenty of laps under his belt to prepare for his Premiership campaign.

"Hans Andersen has had the invite because although he missed out on a team place this year, he is still very much part of our thoughts.

"It will be a first chance for supporters to have a look at Kacper in a meeting I am enjoying putting together.

"While it is a great way to get the current squad together, I want to ensure there are a few new faces as well."

Field to date: Hans Andersen, Josh Grajczonek, Niels-Kristian Iversen, Frederik Jakobsen, Brady Kurtz, Bjarne Pedersen, Linus Sundstrom, Kacper Woryna.
