ELLINGHAM & Ringwood maintained their unbeaten start to the season with an impressive 35-19 bonus point win at Yeovil in National Challenge Division One South West on Sunday.

The Es were depleted due to injury and unavailability and headed to Somerset with no replacements but prevailed by seven tries to three.

Ellingham started strongly and prop forward Charlotte West crashed over for two early tries as they seized the initiative.

Yeovil then applied some concerted pressure and were rewarded with a try out wide.

Ellingham hit back quickly with a try from flank forward Nina Hoadley to give them a 15-5 lead at the break.

The visitors played some attractive rugby in the second half and full-back Chloe Barrett added two further tries.

Scrum-half Rosie Swan added a further try before centre Maggie Hishon scored the try of the game with a fantastic break from midfield.

Yeovil came back strongly with two late converted tries after Ellingham had lost Emma Lipsett to a yellow card and Barrett to injury.

But the visitors' defence held firm and they returned home with an important away bonus point win.
