PIRATES chief Matt Ford admits his team-building hopes rest on a potential rule change in Polish speedway.

In the season just gone, riders racing in Poland's top flight were limited to plying their trade in two other leagues.

While it is expected that rule will be lifted, Ford's plans are being affected in the interim.

He told the Daily Echo: "It could be that my team building may take a month or so because we are awaiting decisions from Poland regarding the three-league rule.

"It was agreed the rule would be lifted but at this point in time we are still waiting for it to be so.

"I hope there is no issue because it certainly will affect my team plans. I think it may drag on a little.

"Apart from Poole, I know of one other team who have the same issue."

Asked if he could rule any Pirates assets out of a team spot at this stage, Ford added: "Most things are still open.

"I have informed a few of the riders I am unsure if they will be able to be in the plans.

"Rather than them miss out on spots, if they secure places elsewhere then they will go with my blessing."
