NEIL Middleditch backed his Pirates riders to deliver and insisted: "We can't afford any passengers."

The Dorset club face King's Lynn at home tonight (7.30pm) in a fixture they surely must win to keep alive their hopes of reaching the SGB Premiership play-offs.

And team boss Middleditch is keenly aware of the importance of all seven of his riders producing their best at Wimborne Road.

He told the Daily Echo: "We've been here before, we've scraped into the play-offs in fourth and won it, we've finished first and then lost it.

"If you make the play-offs, anything can happen.

"When we ride together, we are a very good team. We don't have any one rider banging in 10 to 15 points every meeting but what I've got is a good selection of boys who are all capable of scoring points.

"If they all score points, we can win matches but we can't afford any passengers."

King's Lynn had lost nine of their past 10 meetings prior to last night's trip to Rye House.

But Middleditch said: "We don't take any team lightly. Look at Leicester, who would have thought they would have won at Belle Vue?

"We are certainly not complacent over any of the meetings this week, that's for sure."

Poole are due to travel to Lynn tomorrow before rounding off their regular season campaign at Somerset on Friday.
