KYLE Newman's proactive approach has earned him a spot at the Scottish Open Championship at Edinburgh.

The Poole-born racer approached organisers over the opportunity to compete and was duly handed a place in the Armadale meeting.

Newman, Pirates' vice-captain this year, will race north of the border on Friday, March 31.

Meanwhile, Brady Kurtz has been named in the field for the Peter Craven Memorial at Belle Vue on Saturday, April 1.

The 20-year-old Aussie will face the likes of Matej Zagar, Justin Sedgmen, Kenneth Bjerre and Charles Wright at the National Speedway Stadium.
