DEXTER Sports under-12s fought back from two goals down before securing a dramatic penalty-shootout win over Corfe Mullen in the Fair Play Trophy.

The teams had been awarded places in the final in recognition of their sportsmanship throughout the season, with the contest played out in front of around 150 supporters at Parley Sports Club.

Corfe Mullen made the breakthrough 17 minutes in when Tristan Hill broke clear and slotted into the corner.

The lead was doubled soon after, Hill smashing home a powerful strike which deceived goalkeeper Matty Burstow.

Dexters began their comeback following the restart when Leon Hankins threaded through for Oliver Lamb and he drilled into the far corner.

Lamb was far from finished and the goal hero levelled matters courtesy of a fine headed finish from captain Sam Chinery's free-kick.

That was how it stayed until the final whistle and having earned permission from the referee, the players set about contesting the penalty shootout.

The teams were level at 3-3 before Jack Mulvey's successful strike put Dexters in control.

And Burstow dived to his right to save the next effort, which ensured Dexter took victory.

Cherries youngster Keelan O'Connell presented both teams with trophies in recognition of their efforts.
