UNDER-21 coach Stephen Purches has urged trialist Jordan Green to keep catching the eye on the back of his impressive start with Cherries.

The ex-Fulham scholar, who played non-league football for Banbury United last season, made his mark in a behind-closed-doors game against Arsenal under-21s and bagged a stylish brace as Cherries dismantled Hamworthy Recreation 7-0 last night.

Purches told the Daily Echo: “It was a good experience for Jordan to play against Arsenal and we wanted to have another look at him. He made the effort to come down from London for Tuesday’s game and showed some more glimpses of what we were hoping to see.

“After playing men’s football, players like Jordan adapt completely differently to the players coming through our system and he is here because of the good things we have seen.

“Now, it is up to him to keep showing us what he can do. He scored a couple of good goals and from his point of view, I am sure he will be happy.”

On the match, Purches added: “There was a good range of goals and it was pleasing that we weren’t afraid to take on a shot or try different combinations round the box.

“The only slight disappointment was not quite finishing off some of the other good moves but overall, it was a good workout.”
