BRANSGORE'S Scott Mitchell has had his place in November's Grand Slam of Darts formally rubber-stamped.

The 45-year-old received an invite off the back of his victory at the BDO World Championship in January.

He will compete alongside the likes of PDC stars Michael van Gerwen, Phil Taylor and Adrian Lewis at Wolverhampton Civic Hall.

Mitchell is set to be one of eight BDO players present in the 32-strong field with fellow world finalist Martin Adams, Geert De Vos and Martin Phillips also handed invites.

The Grand Slam of Darts was first staged in 2007 and has been won six times by Phil Taylor, with Scott Waites taking the 2010 title and Raymond van Barneveld claiming glory in 2012.

This year's event will be staged from November 7-15 and is due to be televised on Sky Sports.
