JOSH McQuoid has returned to Cherries after Coventry City manager Steven Pressley confirmed he would not have his loan extended.

The 25-year-old frontrunner, who has recently been suffering with an Achilles problem, joined the Sky Blues on a half-season loan deal in August and made 19 appearances in all competitions, scoring five goals.

McQuoid was one of three players to join Coventry on a temporary basis until January with goalkeeper Ryan Allsop and winger Mohamed Coulibaly sent to the League One club for game time.

Coulibaly had his stint cut short for personal reasons in November but Allsop has continued to command a regular spot in City starting XI with Pressley considering a move to retain the stopper's services.

Pressley told the Coventry Telegraph: "Ryan Allsop has grown in terms of stature, confidence and belief. He has given me food for thought but Josh McQuoid's deal will not be extended.”

Allsop has started 22 of Coventry's 25 league matches so far this season.
