BOSS Frank Gray is this weekend hoping to put behind him the frustration of Bashley’s postponed fixtures as his charges take on Chippenham Town at home tomorrow (3pm).

Gray admitted the postponement of his side’s past two fixtures was not ideal, with Saturday’s home clash with Chesham United and the midweek trip to Redditch falling foul of the weather.

And with snow forecast over the next few days, the run of postponements may be set to continue.

It means Gray hasn’t been able to utilise Portsmouth loan star Elliot Wheeler to the full, despite the winger agreeing to stay for another month.

And with emergency loan rules limiting his stay to 93 days, Wheeler will have to return to Pompey after this final month expires.

On the call-offs, Gray said: “It is very frustrating, mainly because all of the players want to play.

“Sometimes, these breaks can be good when you’re nursing a list of injuries but that is not the case for us at the moment. We finally seem to be getting everyone back to fitness.

“We’ve signed Elliot for another month but how many games he will manage to get I don’t know. He has been so unfortunate with injuries, he has only made five starts for us and he had to come off in two of those.

“When he has featured, he has looked bright and dynamic and the way he is going you would not bet against him featuring for Portsmouth sooner rather than later.”.

Chippenham have drawn their past five matches.
