Cherries eased into the second round of the FA Cup following a comprehensive 4-0 win over Dagenham & Redbridge at Goldsands Stadium today.

A goal from Marc Pugh was sandwiched between Josh McQuoid’s double as Eddie Howe’s men made light work of brushing aside the League Two strugglers.

Wes Fogden’s late effort completed the scoring as Cherries booked their place in tomorrow's second round draw.

And but for the second-half heroics of ex-Cherries goalkeeper Jordan Seabright, on as a half-time substitute, the margin of victory would have been far greater.

Michael Spillane fashioned the first shooting chance after seven minutes, the midfielder hooking his effort into the arms of Cherries goalkeeper Shwan Jalal following a corner.

Matt Tubbs responded for Cherries, although his strike flew over the crossbar following good build-up play involving Harry Arter and McQuoid.

A well-worked free-kick ended with Simon Francis’s fierce drive being deflected wide before McQuoid miscued when well placed following a cross from Lewis Grabban.

McQuoid, however, made no mistake when he opened the scoring in the 30th minute, the striker lashing home the loose ball after Daggers goalkeeper Chris Lewington had tried to punch clear a Grabban cross.

Lewington, who was caught early in the first half by Tubbs, made way at the interval with Poole-born Cherries supporter Jordan Seabright coming off the bench.

And Seabright, who hails from Oakdale, immediately excelled when he acrobatically tipped over a goalbound effort from Marc Pugh.

The teenage stopper was powerless to prevent Cherries doubling their lead through Pugh after 58 minutes.

Although Seabright pulled off a top-drawer save to thwart Francis, Pugh seized on the loose ball and rammed it home from just inside the box to make it 2-0.

McQuoid’s thunderous drive made it 3-0 after 79 minutes, the frontman finding the top corner with a venomous volley from the edge of the box.

Fogden, on as a 79th-minute replacement for Grabban, completed the scoring with a fine finish in the last minute.
